Wait a minute. How the heck are you supposed to jumpstart a 911 ?
 

I've never jumpstarted my 911.
If the battery went dead, I'd just connect a battery charger.
My charger has tiny little clamps, and I never thought much of it.

Now, I own one of those jump packs.

I tried to use it today.
There is no way the full size clamps could fit down under the fender.
Which begs the question, how the heck have you ever jumpstarted with jumper cables and clamps????

There is absolutely no room down there to fit a large red clamp.

I am now noticing the different batteries have the posts on different sides.


Contrast these two.

The Bosch would have the red post on the INSIDE of the car, away from the fender.
Ther other would have the red post on the OUTSIDE of the car, under the fender.

Lay the clamp down and slide it on. Or lock a pair of vice grips on the battery clamp and clamp the jumper to it. Use your imagination.

Eggzacery, or pull the battery, connect the cables, vroom, vroom.

Easier to push start!

Can you be more precise?

There is no slack in the cables to stay connected to the battery.
So, when you say "pull the battery", am I jump starting the naked battery cables with the unattached battery sitting on the ground?
Can a car run without a battery attached? Do you reattach the battery to the cables while the car is running?

you will fry the alternator if you run the car without a battery. Are the cables so short you cannot slide the battery forward? It does not look like the terminals are correct for a Porsche, they should be on the other side. If the car can move a push start in 3d gear with ignition on is very easy.
Or put a charger on the battery and start it after its charged.

As on many of my cars and motorcycles , I just add a jump wire to the + post and pull it into service when needed

Keep a small needlenose visegrip in your tool kit. Clamp it on the + terminal clamp and attach the jumper to the visegrip.

I bought one of these for every car, Porsche and non-Porsche. Works great.

For now mine are hooked up to the battery up front. When I re-wire the charging cables and cables to the starter motor the plug will be connected to the starter motor and the plug in the engine compartment.

This is a good solution - bump starting used to be a lot easier when I was 20 something... Now, I'll probably pull a muscle trying to hop in! haha

i feel like this post was under appreciated.
this is brilliant and exactly the kind of thing that would make jumping (or charging) a 911 super easy.

My charger has a quick connect.... most do. I also have a long lead with typical battery charging clamps to jump the car if necessary.
