Salvage original steering wheel - 71 T?

My 1971 911T still has the original 4 spoke wheel - but the leather cover has worn through over about 1/4 of the wheel circumference.

I'd like to retain the original wheel. Anybody know if it's possible to source a replacement cover/or material ... or any other (cheap) options ?

we recently used a product called wheelskin. it is made of leather and ordered by wheel size and fit like it came on the car originally. not some cheesey plastic slip on cover.

I second the wheelskins. The trick is to put it on and lace tight. They look almost factory original.

allan gunn sells a kit or will fix yours. i put the 914 wheel in the 911. slightly smaller diameter and looks stock.

the ancient chinese secret is to park the car with the steering wheel in various locations ( not straight ). this will keep the top of the wheel from getting toasted all the time.

Thank you, gentlemen.

I'll see if anybody on the Eastern side of the pond can supply something similar. I couldn't figure out how the wear only appeared from the 2 o'clock to 5 o'clock position on the rim - thought it was maybe a series of hoary handed lumberjack or tyre fitter owners in the car's distant past - but now I understand ...Thanks Tryan)

Free to good home. I purchased a leather wheelskin for my 4Runner a few years ago. I never got around to putting it on, and it is just sitting in the basement gathering dust. It is maroon and would match the burgundy Porsche interior pretty well. If anyone is interested, let me know.
