WUR Help

Also posted WTB so please excuse if viewed as duplicate post. I am seeking technical advice as well as correct parts to buy.
I have a 1982 RoW 911SC 3.0 without Catalytic Converter and Lambda which were removed by previous owner(s?). The current WUR is 090 which I understand was probably installed during federalization and emissions process. I understand that the 089 is correct for this engine. I am looking for the 089 WUR to buy or trade? The Fuel distributor is Bosch 097 which I understand to be correct for this RoW 3.0. Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated.

Wait for Tony “ boyt911sc” to reply as he may have several in stock. It was not uncommon for the ROW cars to have some CIS parts exchanged for US parts when the cars were imported to USA. Mine also had lamda and a cat added, which were later removed. Assuming you are in US, sounds like you have similar modifications. A picture if the line from your WUR to fuel accumulator may also be of interest.

Runs way better when returned to factory.

Unfortunately the line from FD to WUR has also been modified and I suspect part of my problem. The fittings are missing and line replaced with what appears to be vacuum tube with banjos on each end. I suspect the ID is smaller than factory and hose material also too soft, which quite honestly worries me from a safety standpoint depending on fuel pressure this line is under.

My fuel system is a bit of a mongrel, so some of the fittings are not per usual. When I needed to replace a fuel line from the WUR I gave the specs from the existing to Len (boxstergt). He made one up to match and it worked great.

WUR-089 loaner........

Moosec,

I have several WUR-089’s available for testing. Install it on your car. If you are not completely satisfied with its performance, simply send it back no question asked. You are not obligated to buy it. It is a loaner. However, if you want to keep it, it is yours.

Over the years, I have successfully provided literally hundreds of WUR’s to fellow Pelicanparts members and counting. PM me if you are interested. Thanks.

Tony

Tony is "The" Go To Guy when it comes to everything CIS.

I am able to help with replacement lines given the specs on your model.

However, it may take a while for me to do this. I am about 3/4 of my way through my move from Mass to a beautiful little place in the woods of NH.

If CIS Polyamide Lines are needed, please email me ONLY.

Another source is CIS Flowtech...Larry, he is the only Bosch authorized rebuilder in the US and was trained in Germany by Bosch...he can get all of the parts that many cannot and fudge.
Bosch actually sends him the Turbo era WURs for him to repair from Europe.

Most US dealers in WURS carry his product and middle man them.

WUR-089 plus other CIS components.

Mike,

I just noticed today that you are located in Sarasota, FL. I will be visiting Sarasota in January 2019 for 2 weeks. If you are interested, I could stop by and look at your motor. Could you post some pictures of your motor? Aside from replacing the WUR-090 to WUR-089, you will also need a couple of CIS components for WUR-089 to work.

I have assisted and supplied WUR-089’s to atleast half dozen members of this forum for the conversion. The conversion process is straight forward. Make sure you have a pressure gauge to make the troubleshooting easy and convenient.

Tony

Hello Tony,
I have tried you on the telephone a couple of times and sent you an email today. It would be great to meet you while you are in town. My car is disassembled but still driveable at the moment, albeit with no doors, fenders or glass. Not sure where the bodyman will be with it when you arrive but we can surely make some arrangements.

Mike -

I did the above a few months ago, and subsequently bought the loaner WUR from Tony, as his re calibrated WUR made all the difference for my SC .

Good luck.

Pictures needed..........

Mike,

To fully understand what you have now, I like to see some pictures of the engine:
a). Picture of the intake runner #2 with the WUR and fuel hoses connected.
b). Picture of the fuel distributor showing the fuel line going to WUR.
c). Picture of the left side of the throttle body (driver side).

Hopefully, with these pictures we will be able to identify the missing CIS components needed for the conversion. Thanks.

Tony

Thanks Tony. I’m sure that hose from FD to WUR is not FI rated. It has been a big concern of mine but the car is not on the road so I haven't addressed it until now. I bought this car not running and had the WUR rebuilt locally by a retired Porsche dealership tech. Because the line was bad he fabricated this line in an effort to get the car running. It also is probably too small id. I’ve purchased 2 lines in an attempt to replace but neither has been correct. One of the problems is that both of the threaded adaptors, on the FD end and WUR end, are missing and unavailable as I understand so a factory type hose will not work. It sounds like BoxsterGT can fabricate a line that will work.

Len,

I will be in Sarasota by mid January and will have an opportunity to look at Mike’s engine. And will surely recommend to Mike to contact you for his fuel line needs. For the meantime, I am sending him a WUR-089 loaner, a thermotime valve, metal fuel line between WUR & FD and a couple of metric adaptors for his tests. Will keep you posted. Thanks.

Len,
sent you another email showing another line I need rebuilt. looks like the same fittings on the line you said you can do.

Tony,
I attended one of your engine rebuild classes, the one in early April. I am at the point of needing to have all of the CIS stuff on my 3.3 930 engine rebuilt. just shipped a lot of stuff to Steve Weiner for machine work. I'll PM you.
