do i need to replace intake runners

the reason I am considering replacing is that when removing injector sleeves i may have overground the tabs that hold the injector sleeves,,, but it confuses me that some photos in PP technical articles seem to show a small o ring that sits between the sleeve and the top of the intake rim. If that's supposed to be there then the problem is really non existent because of the big o rings on the injector and the lower o ring on the sleeve insert and this mystery o ring if it exists should create a good seal?

Have I got that right?

would love to see photos if folks can post

1983 SC engine (not sure if US or ROW)

Thanks

Bob

There is an o-ring on the sleeve insert and I believe it is deep enough to bypass some liberal lip grinding

I don't have pics on my shop computer but do at home.

Stay tuned. Heading that way.

They rest a good half inch below the top lip of the metal intake runner.

Two o rings per sleeve. A large and small one if I remember. Intake runners should be fine, no need to replace. I didn't even re-stake mine when I put new injectors, o-rings and sleeves in, and 2 years on no issues with any popping out.

Here's the sleeve:

New sleeve with O ring installed. The smaller ring goes around the injector.

Injectors installed in sleeves ready to install into runners:

thats my end goal...but right now still stuck with getting drivers side sleeves out of 2 and 3 and opening up 6 where I am worried pices of my tool chipped off and fell in...was considering

partial drop..seems like its as much effort as a full drop
take to my local porsche mechanic and let then do "clean up" with the supplied (cleaned) injectors/o rings/sleeves I have) as well as valve guides etc to tackle some excessive oil burn, if they drop engine then can test oil cooler while in there and look for any areas of concern re air leaks etc (my mileage sucks as does oil consumption..but 0-1% leak down across all 6 and compression within a few psi for all 6 plus replace clutch plate.

If I attempt this at home with an engine drop, i can get CSI off and each runner too..but will that be enough to let me inspect #6 for the bits I am worried about (pray valves are closed, if not then what next?)
