Windshield washer passenger not work

I got the thingy off the nozzle see it in photo
And there is no water at the hose (drivers side sprays fine). So I’m guessing it’s the “T” piece at the other nozzle (drivers side). My hose is pretty shabby so I’m wondering how to plumb the hose from nozzle to nozzle.

Can I tie the new hose to the old one and then pull the new one through or do I need to remove some stuff?

Can you blow air through the part you show in your pick? It’s a check valve and they get gummed up and won’t allow flow.

This was one of the first repairs I did to me car.

You may be able to reach under the cowl
pull the hoses away from the retaining clips
and access everything without removing the hoses.

Flush cutters worked well to remove the Oetiker clamps.

I took everything apart and blew through the parts, and it was the 2 check valves that were jammed (91462843300)
No need to buy a new t-fitting (91162861700) or nozzle (94462807700) if you can blow through them.

interesting, my hoses are a clear brownish and brittle (I see sugarwood's are braided). Thanks for the info guys, was not sure there are retaining clips, I'll look and see.

Same with mine.

On my 81, I remember the 2nd check valve was over by the passenger side squirty and it was a one inlet piece. Like in the OP's pic.

Maybe they upgraded the 3.2 for an easier maintenance adventure given the check valves are the common culprit?

Well it’s a bit embarrassing you see. I’ve been “fixing” a tight lock on passenger door. And in the process I forgot I had the door locked when I tried to open door.

Thinking the fresh air fan in trunk needs to come out to get at the washer hoses? Or is there an easier way?

My memory is fading. I remember it was a PITA job for such a simple thing.

Someone else has had to have done it more recently than me.

The first photo I posted required no removal of anything. Actually, it looks like I removed the reservoir, for some reason.
Just trace the hoses with your hand and see if you can untuck them and pull them forward into the bay.

You may also need to detach the hose from the actual washer nozzle to create play.
Nozzle attaches to cowl ....retained by a squeeze tab.
Once you loosen nozzle, you can lift the spray nozzle up away from the car.
This will expose the connected hose, which you can try to disconnect from above (rather than reaching under the cowl, and trying to disconnect blindly)

Can't find the squeeze tab on my nozzle. Hum. thanks for the update. I did find a tab (one of those bend style tabs in front of the oil pressure gauge) for wiring/hose on drivers side which was binding on my pull of my old brownish washer hoses. Fortunately, for removal, there are no clamps on the '78 hoses.

My check valve on the passenger side seems fine, blows only the correct way.
Still working to get the drivers side off the nozzle for a test.

There is not an easy position for us old guys to reach under the cowl standing on the floor. I guess I need to climb in the trunk to do this.
Funny what I'm going through to fix the passenger side sprayer when it hasn't worked in 20 years and I never drive my Targa in the rain .

Well I got the new tubing and squirters and two way valve from Pelican.
The passenger side nozzle came out with wire cutters easy enough. The drivers side nozzle was a real pain to get to but after much cussing it finally came out.

Then the outside squirters/nozzles holes proceeded to wet down my garage floor. They were adjusted by moving the eyelets with a sharp probe.

This shows me why I’ve lived with only drivers side squirters for 34+ years
PS the hole in my 78 (for the nozzle) is much smaller than the one shown for an ‘86. Maybe too much complaining about repairs on the older ones.

Passenger side sprayer.

The driver's side sprays like a fire hose.

However the passenger side is not receiving water
to the nozzle.

I can "pulse" the washers by using the stalk,
and get a bit of water to the passenger side,
and, that's it.

I can blow through the nozzle, but the lack of
water delivery seems to be the issue.

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

There are multiple check valves. Both nozzles are served by the same pump. If drivers side works, the problem is downstream. I’d work from there tracing from drivers side to passenger. The blockage will be in the hose along he way or one of the check valves.

Check valve

^^^^^
This is the line that feeds the pass side washer.

How to replace?

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

How to replace?
Use micro flush cutters and remove the clamps
And replace clogged parts and get new hose clamps

Those look like oetiker clamps. Single use and require a special plier to instal. No big deal but you would need the right size clamp and pliers. Or zip ties are your friend.
