Blinker working, but not parking light (Picture)

Hopefully this will be a short thread

My parking light is out, but my blinker works. Any ideas? Tried the bulb just in case, but no joy. 1988 Carrera

Because everyone likes pictures and this is a boring thread, I'm adding a picture from my Porsche repair day yesterday. Preparing to head to Daytona next weekend for the Rolex 24.

The metal tab that holds the bulb holder in place is also the ground. When I had this problem, I found sanding the contact surfaces of the tab and bulb holder solved the problem.

Unfortunately, guessing on our part is a waste of time. You're going to have to don your Sherlock Holmes pipe and hat and start investigating with a multimeter. Then we'll have something to work with.

How in the heck did you get the wires reconnected to the bulb holder?

Are both sides of the parking lights out? As far as I remember, each side has his own fuse. Start with the fuse for the side that is out. Then work up to the light switch and keep on going until you find where the power is interrupted. Unfortunately, this can be a tedious process.

Based on your question, I'm beginning to think that we are talking about a different light. This is the one I was referring to. On the front bumper.

I was referring to the parking light on the front of the front bumper, not the side marker.

Mystery solved...after reassembling the light, the driver side marker lights didn't work and I thought I messed up the wiring...it never crossed my mind that each side of the car would be on separate circuits. We finally figured that out. Reassembled, replaced the fuses and all lights work. Those short wires that connect to the bulb holder on the back of the reflector are a PITA!!
