911 R vented quarter glass
What was the purpose of the vented rear quarter glass in the 911R? was it simply driver comfort?
did they have the drip tray like todays reproductions? Thanks - Scott S

Since you asked, here are some pics of original and our reproductions. Yes, the car has a drip tray on each window. No, the windows were never meant to use oem seals or pop out window trims. the windows were glued into place using caulking (clients opt for black or clear silicone)
These are made from acrylic since Lexan type material does not take kindly to complex shapes ![]() ![]()

Out of curiosity, can acrylic be tinted with something like 3M window tint?

They've got to let in less rain than a stock flip out window
The way the stock ones sealed to the body is kind of kludgy I can see how a glued in one that still vents would prevent water that runs over the roof from finding its way through the seal

I've been running a set of Dave's windows since last fall. I'm very happy with them. They look great and, running up here in the soggy Pacific Northwest, work just fine in the rain.

It fills up with water until it starts draining back out the louvers. Works pretty good.

Acrylic plastic can be polished to remove scratches. Lexan cannot.
Here is a simple trick if caught in a rain storm , or washing the car: Get some saran wrap, tear off a decent sized piece and place it over the louvers. If you wrap the forward edge around the front corner, the air won't tear it off while you drive in the wet. Simply remove, microfiber towel dry, when it is time . Does not impair your vision , or mess up the windows

I purchased a set of pop out windows, but may try these instead.
Thanks for the heads up on these! John |

Black or transparent silicone caulking (from local home centers) is for the glue in install of these windows. Porsche used black back in the day. They cannot be cut down to work with either solid or pop open seals/trim
Cost is $550 for the pair and we are taking deposits for delivery end of March. Please pm us for details thank you dave
