sneak peak BB2

Just back from Automotive Innovations. Okay, so she is a little dusty. Everyone has been working like crazy in the effort for her first track test. Check out the pic below

I love Jack's car...but, gosh, I'd also like to eyeball that Woody in the background....

The rear flares are still at turbo 11" width. Those huge tires fit under them. Once we finish testing, we'll determine if they need some mods, or (hopefully) work as installed

It looks like it's getting ready to pounce on that flatbed ("get outta the way, I don't need no stinkin' ride"). That is going to be one sweet ride Jack.

Nice work.
I see that the ol' center panel made the transition to BB2.
Cool.

A full day of assembly and tuning. Until you go through it, it's hard to conceive of how many details there are in putting a car together. I barely did any work, but I'm exhausted.

The car got registered and insured, today. Pelican Parts came through with a few pieces we needed at the last minute. Dave and Jeremy at TRE let Tyson and I stay until late -- and they both pitched in and helped, too.

The car still needs a final alignment, so we won't be pushing it too hard, tomorrow. But it will make it to the track. Surprise problems notwithstanding, it should be a blast.

Here it is after its first test drive:

It's still got a lot of dust on it, from all the sanding, and the headlights are held on with tape while we wait for the right tabs.

First tank of gas.

I'm psyched. You guys are all going to have to put up with a pretty gushy post from me pretty soon, about the sacrifices other people have made to make this car a reality.

I'm just amazed.

Awesome, Jack, just awesome! The shot at the gas pump made me a little emotional, but maybe just because of the price of super unleaded this week.

So how does it feel? Does it feel really light and quicker than the other car just driving down the street? Enquiring minds want to know.

Are there track plans for the week of June 30 and July 4th weekend?

It's lighter and louder (no carpet, yet).

Denis, at the end of the night we realized we had the battery in a box, so it couldn't slide. But we couldn't find the old strap, so it could theoretically leap up -- and possibly fail tech. A certain enormous zip-tie someone had brought by saved the day. Thanks!

That's hilarious. I knew that you would find a use for that, but didn't think that it would be that fast. Have fun and be safe tomorrow!
