Front end rebuild-Do I need new rotors? 22.61mm

Things are coming along nicely. Calipers are off and no problems w/brake lines. Tie rod ends are separated.

One queston, The Rotors look a bit worn and measure ~22.61 mm. The book says change them out at 22mm....Should I do it now?

Thanks...I'm having fun!

Dave

Garage
New thickness is 24.0 mm. Minimum thickness after machining is 22.6 mm (so you can't machine these rotors). By my math you have 30% life left (0.6mm/2mm). If they are running true and you have pad life left, they seem good to me. How long since they were machined? Do you have any front end shimmy on braking?

Hopefully someone with actual knowledge about this will chime in. Caveat Emptor. YMMV.

As Don said, new they are 24 and throw away is 22, so you still have a fair amount left. If you motor was going to need a rebuild at 200K miles you wouldn't necessarily rebuild at 140K. 60K miles is a long time.

Front end feels OK so I'll just use them. Don't know if they were machined...I just got the car in Oct and it's been in the garage since Nov. I'm not planning to track the car so it they should last a while.

Thanks for the advice.

Dave
