Strut Nut...anyone see this before
Bentley says there should be a tab in the bolt for the top of the strut. Mine doesn't and they bent the washer up to hold the nut. Anyone see this before?
Also, should I get the locking washer and will it fit? Thanks. Dave

The tab is in the big washer beneath the bent washer.
And yes, it is the proper way to install that bent washer. It comes flat and you bend two opposite ends up against the nut.

What you can't see is that there is a tab poking inward, into the machined slot in the threaded post. that holds it to the post, the flats to the nut.
Crimping those back up again is all of a screwdriver and force. John

you don't bend the tab, it just slides down the slot. Unbend the one side of the washer, remove the bolt (you'll probably need an impact to get it loose), once the nut is off the washer will slide right off, it's similar to the washer on the front wheel bearings, but not as heavy.

Guys-Thanks
You guys are keeping me out of alot of trouble and making this much easier. I can't believe I'm going to have the entire front suspension off the car.
My wife is not confident I can get it back on.....I know I can with everyone's advice and past posts. ![]() Thanks. Dave
