Read Me - Pelican BBS Browsing habits...

Do you hit back twice on your browser after you've posted a topic? Or do you go back to the main page by hitting one of the links at the top or the bottom.

I should probably install a button that will take you back to the main page that you were reading (click back twice)?

Make sense?

-Wayne

Absolutely. If you don't click twice fast - You never get back to the previous page you were at - If you have just posted a reply. A button to take you back to the browse screen would be greatly appreciated.

I always pull down my "back" menu and click the appropriate line back to the page I started. If you've browsed a post that's 2 or more pages, you can go back 5 or more clicks. Good idea though, as sometimes I forget and then that pesty page comes up thanking me for my post again.
I think you really are better at this stuff than politics, but what do I know I'm Canadian 'eh?

I hit the "Go" button at the bottom of the thread. It's so much easier than hitting back. The only time it's a problem is when I look at a thread that's been moved OT because that button puts me in a different board.

OOo, can you put the go button between the thread and the quick reply field?

That would be a nice addition. I programmed my mouse wheel to be a back button, but would prefer a single button click over the required rapid fire clicking.

I asked this on an earlier thread and never saw an answer....

I have a high speed/always on account. If I stay on the Pelican site when I'm done surfing am I using Wayne's resources while idle?

I usually open new windows to minimize the load on whatever servers I'm using; also because I can never remember where I was if I leave a page with other interesting thingies

A direct jump button to return to the forum sounds like a good idea though, less whacking on the server when you prefer driving in one window.

I always hit the "GO" button on bottom of page after posting, I thought that it was the only way to get back.

I hit the back button a few times. A "return to original post" button would be appreciated.

Button would be good. I by habit hit the back arrow and end up seeing my post again.

Go button works fine, UNLESS you happen to be other than on page one. If you reply to a topic on page 2 or 3, you have to quickly hit the back button2-3 times to get there...

Frankly I think the "Submit" should take you back to the thread list. I don't need to see the thread I just wrote, because, well, I wrote it. But at least a "return to thread list" would be cool.

I never hit go or back. I use Netscape, and a new topic comes up as a separate (tabbed) window. I open every thread I'm going to read before I actually read them, and then close the windows as I go.
