First Porsche! 1987 Carrera

Excited to say I will be picking up my first Porsche next week! She's only got 60K miles and appears to be super clean. I'm a general car guy who's always had BMW M cars. But excited to join the Porsche community. I'll pick it up in LA next week and drive it back to my home in San Francisco. Here are some pictures, with more to come on my trip.

Very good looking ride. Welcome to the dark side. You will have a helluva time leaving.

Porsche Carrera

IIRC, The ‘87 Carrera did not have that style 3rd brake light. The ‘85 did.

Nice! Welcome. I have the 86 model of your exact car sans the gearbox.

87 first year for 3rd lights in Canada. My 86 3rd light is in the window. And some folk added them to older cars. I’ve seen it on an 80 SC.

Hopefully you can drive it up the PCH with the top off - can’t think of a better way to break in a new Porsche owner!

I've owned your car's twin sister since 1992 and still love it

Enjoy every mile. I still do!

The 3.2 G50 combo is a great choice, the best I think, but I'm biased

I got a '87 Carrera and it came with the exact same 3rd brake light from factory.

Ah...very nice indeed.

As has been said, you’ll have a hell of a time moving on from her...though I am partial to an ‘87 Targa.
