"No Man's Land" DVD 9.99 at Fry's!

Was at Fry's Electronics in Canoga Park this morning and they had tons of these DVD's for 9.99.

This is the movie with Charlie Sheen and Randy Quaid where they steal the Porsches and chop 'em up.

Anyone notice the 964 on the cover? Puzzling, for a movie made in 1987. Also, it pisses me off that they couldn't dig out any lost scenes, or even include a booklet or anything. Aside from that, it's a great movie.

Good testing scene with Charlie Sheen and the Cab.

Jared.

My friend Lloyd Forcellini referred me to TRE years back... and all I remember when I first walked into the place was telling Jeremy "Hey this place is straight out of No Man's Land." And he tells me that it was filmed there!
Funny thing is that I was cutting Stuart Little at Sony Pictures and I mentioned it to an editor/mentor at the time and she tells me she edited that Movie. What a small world.

Okay, so it's no oscar caliber movie, but it's got some awesome P-cars.

Yeah, not an Oscar winner, but fine for watching with a 6-pack when wifey is out of the house on a lazy Sunday afternoon....

No kidding, filmed at TRE, huh? That's cool.

Thanks Bell.

Actually I've just been a quiet observer here. Dave and the guys at TRE are great and I even got to meet Tyson, he even took time to show me the work on BB2 and let's just say my jaw dropped when I saw his work. What a nice guy. But I have learned so much from this Board. Thanks to everyone.

Cheers

It was a tiring week when they filmed that movie here. Charlie Sheen was friendly, but focused on his job. He had signed a multi picture deal with Ron Howard's company (which had less than stellar scripts at the time) but even though he had just finished Platoon, he was contracted to do these movies (Remember the Wraith? 0- oh gawd- that was bad!)
The place was a madhouse with all the crew. lighting, cables, etc etc. and it was kind of fun calling our clients and asking them if we could pay them to have their cars in the shop!
The "first day at work" scene when Sweeney comes for the job has a blue R Gruppe-ized (well before there was ever a thought of R Gruppe) targa driving by him. That one is mine- it is being transformed (very slowly) into a Speedster/Spyder style with the same flares and more R attitude.
Yeah the movie basically sucked, but chase scenes and all the P cars were fun. And we were really tired the following week, but had a nice bank account to show for it.
I don't know if we could rent out again, we have a lot of biz (thanks all your porsche guys!), but it woud be fun

"Cutting Stewart Little" Now that's a title so twisted, I'd happily shell out nine bucks to see the movie.

Glad you liked BB2. TRE is great, and Tyson's an artist.

And speaking of art, I think Pelicanite Speeder's first acting gig was in that movie.

Well, that's a given!

Yeah, cool cars but stinky film. Does the title even make sense?
Let's not forget, DB Sweeny went on to do his other fine piece of cinema, "The Cutting Edge" about a hockey player turned figure skater...

What a great movie! It's a metaphor for the 80s, full of cheesy quotes, a searing, confused soundtrack and lots of cool, cool cars!

Dave/TRE Cup, did they really shoot Bill Duke in your toilet??

That is so cool that a few Pelicans (also KevinP73) were involved in that flick.

It was kind of funny for a few months; people would come in just to see the toilet where Wood was blasted. A factory Porsche race poster gave its all as background art- spatters of "blood" all over it
I still have a gallon of movie blood they left behind- maybe we can have a recreation of the scene?

My brother came over last night with a surprise. He handed me a DVD of this movie . My brother and I would watch this movie countless times when we were young (over and over again) . So basically it was a blast from the past. My wife thinks we are both nuts.. we probably are !

All we could say last night was " I can't believe how clear the picture is!" .

It has not been released here in OZ yet , my brother imported it .
