Not a technical question

Has anyone ever heard of University Volkswagen/Porsche? They were located in Fort Worth Texas. I'm trying to find a license plate frame. Not even sure if their dealership offered one. Thanks Guys

Never occurred to look there. That’s my next stop.

1974 I purchased my Super Beetle Convertible that I owned for 15 years. Then sold for more then I paid new. Factory Air btw..... awesome car. I held on to a license plate frame for a long time and now it is no where to be found.

Born and raised in Ft. Worth. Good Luck with your search.

Call a wrecking yard, lots of them have walls of emblems and such.

Great story. I just pulled a one owner 911e from a barn. The car was purchased at University Volkswagen in Fort Worth. It's completely original. I just thought it would be the cherry on top to have the dealers plate from where it was purchased.

The search begins!!! Thanks for input guys!!

robert....if your from Fort Worth you know Overseas Motors kind of took the Porsche brand next from University VW. Now we have Autobahn Porsche. It's really cool that your find is originally from Cow Town. Very cool.

I'm in Indiana. Don't know the University history. I just know from one owner records that's where the car was purchased. Car was towed from Fort Worth to Indiana in 1979, and never driven or seen the light of day, until I bought it. Here's some pic's.

Cant wait to see what you do with the car! Are you going to start a build thread and keep us posted with your progress?

Is it missing the front bumper or did it come with it?

Bumper was included. He fabricated the tow bar, and after getting it to Indiana, never removed it. I always watch shows, American Pickers, CCC, etc... and say to my wife, "Why can't I ever fall into a find like those guys"? And then it happened. The engine and tranny are being rebuilt and other than a good detailing, that's all I'm planning on doing. I lucked out in that the owner left some rags and driving gloves in the car. The mice chewed all that to confetti, while leaving the interior untouched. I pulled 3 mice remains from the car. It is cleaning up pretty nicely and beginning to get that Porsche smell back.
