There is a very old school tire shop near me. Shops like Willhoit use them for example. What a great shop and SUPER careful with the tire mounting process.
Anyway, i had my CN36 put on my 73 dates flat 6, and the shop said these have safety beads and don't need tubes.
Now, my spare, my car originally came with 5.5" steel wheels. The spare is on a rim dated 70, and when we pulled the probably 20yr old tire off it, it had a tube inside. The shop said it too had a safety bead and didn't need a tube.
He said some of the older style fuchs, you can run w/o a tube, but he suggested if they don't have the safety bead to run them with tubes.
