Jim Tweet
In the years I have been here I have had the opportunity to meet and make friends with some very cool people. Some only through my keyboard but others like Tony- Boyt911sc, Rob Adams, Chris- VincentVega, Mike- Porchdog and Jim Tweet I have had the opportunity to meet in person.
Jim I had the opportunity to meet a few years ago. I was able to go to his house and see where he creates those magnificent machines. Most of my interaction has been through texting and his builds threads. I did have the opportunity to attend Tony's (Boyt911SC) engine class, where Jim was also in attendance. The past few weeks have been very difficult for me. My mother suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Jim phoned or text every day to see how I was holding up. I can not begin to express my appreciation for his support. Today however, was the topper. Twenty some odd years ago after a very minor fender bender I pulled my car into my garage. I never started it again. Jim came to my house this morning at 8:00AM and stayed until about 2:00. He brought his tools, including a lift table. Jim helped me or should I say I helped him get my engine running. Then we pulled the motor out of the car so I could do work to the under carriage. Thanks Jim. Sorry about your Mom Don.
Shame you didn't go to keep her company Tony. Sydney is beautiful at this time of year, as is the whole coastline. |

I really just needed a break from sanding man, lets be real
All Kidding aside, Gentlemen thank you for the kind words and thank you Don for the post. Reading things like this restores my faith in humanity. I lost my best friend just a few months ago and without the support from friends, I dont know what I would have done. At age 38 I grew up on car forums, from Subaru, local new jersey one, ford (yes i had a ford), and now Porsche. These forums started as a way for the community to help each other out with a common interest / goal. NOT to make a buck or screw someone over. We were always spending weekends at members houses drinking beer, pulling motors, doing brakes, suspension, lending tools, etc,... Over the last year it makes me sick to read the amount of scam stores on here and people out to get theirs. Like Don said, so many times we have these "internet relationships" but never get to meet in person. I had the opportunity to meet Don a few years back while working on my white car build. After hearing about the passing of his mother and how she was involved in helping him obtain the car I knew I had to help. It was a absolute blast to breathe life into something that had been sleeping for so long and to see the smile on his face when she fired up!!! |

Overall people are generally good it's those (media/politicians ) that try to divide and weaken us that makes us think otherwise.

Don,
Sorry for your loss. The one time I met her she seemed like a really sweet lady. I did pass by your house yesterday and saw you guys with the car out. I wanted to stop, but had the family and we were heading to the store. If you guys meet up again to do some work on the car please let me know or if you need any help, I'm right around the bend. Thank you all for your condolences. It has been a rough few weeks.
The good in people is all to often overlooked. Tony (Boyt911sc) is another as is Rob Adams. Tony goes out of his way to help on this forum and gave up several weekends of his and his wife's time to show guys how to assemble a 911 engine. There are good people out there and I just wanted to recognize him (them) and say thank you. Tony- check your PM. Lou- We were talking about you. I was telling Jim you lived around the corner but hadn't seen you in a while. I stopped by your house a few times during the summer and fall (or at least I think it was your house?) but you weren't there. Had another guy that lives at the fork in my development stop and chat for a while right after Jim left. He had a 76 now has a Boxster. Check your PM. Blucille- where in NJ are you located? I’m up north. Bergen County. But it’s a small state. We should get together. Always happy to turn wrenches in exchange for pizza and beer.

Sorry to hear of your loss Don. I saw Jim’s video on IG, awesome to see it come to life. I’m just over the bridge from Jim in Philly and he did a lot of work on my SC last year including an EFI conversion. Quality of the work was top notch, but even more so, the man himself is, as they say, a mensch. Good dude through and through, always happy to lend a hand or shoot the **** on hot rod trends #makeimpactbumperagreatagain
This is the **** that makes this community awesome.

Not to high your thread but I also lost a good friend. In the Porsche world. I first met Jim back in the late 1970 when he worked for Art Bunker. Jim was like a brother to me. All the things he has thught me over the years.
Jim was a five state guru for Porsche and had the gold ring from Porsche to prove it. I feel your pain. RIP Jim Conduff. 2-12-19 |

Sorry about your loss.
So awesome to have a helpful friend like Jim. It can make a world of difference having someone there with ya. I've had to reach out to Tony a couple of times for some moral support and assistance. Tony was there to guide me on the mating of the case halves on my engine build. I am very appreciative of his help. I've been meaning to make the voyage over to meet Jim a couple of times, but always wanted to take the 930 and I keep messing around with it instead of driving it. When the weather shapes up some we should have a drive and BBQ or something for the mid-atlantic folks. We'd just have to get Jim out of the garage or off the boat for a couple hours!
