Heater Acting Up

I have an 84 Carrera with the dial switch between the seats, no levers. When I turn the switch to any position it would get hot but there was no difference between settings, so I would just turn it on and when I got warm I would just turn it off and so on.
Last week I turned it on, got warm and turned the switch off but it stayed on anyway.
I started sweating like a prostitute at confession so I removed the fuse in back near the engine. Just wondering if any one else has any recommendations? Thx

What you have is "AutoHeat". There have been many threads about this over the years.

You probably have the 'Autoheat' system.
When on, it will use servo motors to throttle heater 'flappers' in order to send (or not) heat to the cabin.
The flappers could be stuck or the servo or cables could be tired and need some TLC.
If you could hear a whine from the console, then the servos may be trying to work, but if not, the module in the console may need some attention.

Here are a couple sites that might be helpful.

84 Autoheat repair or convert to manual

And welcome! (by the way)
