PMO EFI Fuel Rail and AC

Looking to gain alittle space between my fuel rail and ac Compressor.

What is the inlet size (The brass coupler).

If I had an elbow that screwed in to rail on one end, and connected to the line on the other end... Id gain 1/4 inch.. right?

This...

Instead of this

The alternative is to get a different rail with an inlet on the bottom. It would need to be slightly longer than the PMO. There is not enough room to tap the PMO rail. If I got a rail .75 longer, it could have a bottom inlet and it would still give me 1/4-1/2 inch of clearance instead of basically none.

It would need to match up to the PMO / Weber design. Anyone done this?

Thoughts?

I'm in the process of reinstalling my A/C compressor. SC did not have EFI when I took the A/C out. I am thinking of making some standoffs for the compressor to raise it up over the rail and fittings. I don't think I can gain enough room otherwise.

I basically am glomming onto this old thread to see if there are any answers to this.

You might want to try this Banjo Fitting from Vibrant or another supplier......

It is PN 11525 from Summit Racing if I remember correctly.

The thread size in the fuel rail is 3/4-16.

Here is an option used on a SC w/ EFI and A/C.....

....as the Fuel Rail is plugged at the end and a new fitting is installed underneath the Fuel Rail.

I was going to plug the end of the rail near the compressor, and drill and tap it between 4 & 5 for a new entry. I have dismissed any flow problems. I did also buy a new blank section of rail for (if and) when I screw this up. I will, however, measure and see if I have room for the banjo fitting. I spent hours yesterday getting the deck condenser in, and making sure no interferences exist between the various components and the deck lid. The fuel rail is the last issue.

Well, after all of this, I have come to realize that the existing Seiko Seki SS-17CPSV5 compressor will require an idler pulley where I plan to mount it. But, if I raise it, it will interfere with the deck condenser. So, I am trying to find dimensions for the Sanden 507 type compressors, which may be a bit shorter between the mounting ears. But, it was once mounted with the same deck condenser in place, and it fit, and I don't remember it having an idler.

How did you resolve this?

Len,
I put a plug in the end of the fuel rail on the right side. I drilled and tapped a hole in the rail between #4 and #5 cylinders, and reconnected the AN fitting there. Compressor clears, and the fuel seems to work OK.

I kept the same compressor. I had to fab a bracket to support it. I still need to do a bit of work, as I don't particularly like the belt alignment. It is off by about 1/4".

Thanks!
Pat

Len,
I just found this picture of my mod. I am posting it for posterity.

Update:
I am pulling the engine out, so I will be able to fit up a Sanden much easier now...more room to work. I have found he dimensions of a Sanden SD7H13 would be about as good as it will get, as long as I can find the right belt. I do have time on my hands to play with it, however.
