964 Chain tensioner hitting header?

New to me 75 911 with a 3.6 in it...

Under it today to replace mufflers and I notice the headers (OBX?) are hitting the bottom of the pressure fed chain tensioner.... Thinking this is bad, but how bad is it?

Clearly the PO was running the car like this and I have been too (but not much as I am working to get the carbs running...)......

I did pull the header off and relieved the tube a bit to try and get some air gap between the header and the tensioner, but I need to put a little more gap in....

I'm thinking 3mm of gap should be enough?

Thoughts?
