Couldn't pass up on it...

So yea.. bought an '88 Cabriolet with a vented turbo wide body and slant nose front end. Body modifications all steel which is a plus.

I know I know many of you will roast this "sheeper" but I like the wide body (need to remove the turbo emblems though). The whole look of the car flows well together even though I was never a fan of the vents in the rear quarter panels.

ANYWAY, little history on the car:

- Might have been involved in a front end incident in early 90's which gave car R-title, may have been when the front end was converted.
- Previous owner has owned the car for the last 15 years
- Previous owner claims the car has been sitting for last 9 years
- Fired right up with new battery and got it home
- Goodies include speedline wheels, driver quality paint, red interior, G50 trans - 3.2 motor
- Definitely had a mouse living in it most likely since once I got it home we had a new little friend running around the shop
- Convertible top and front power windows do not work.
- Needs an oil change, spark plugs, wasn't stored with any gas so that was good.

Needs an overall tune up but really want to get the power top and windows working so I can have the plastic in the top repaired. Let me know if you guys can help.

I've read a few threads on the top motors and the fuses so that will be the first thing I look at when I have a chance. I'm pretty new at chasing electrical issues but know there is a manual for these tops floating around somewhere.

Can post some pics soon.

Appreciate any inputs!!

Thanks

congrats. looks like the rockers are not aftermarket (might have been added but look oem). any pictures with the headlights up? someone might have added all of the slantnose conversion parts but none of it looks like aftermarket parts which is a huge score if thats the case..

So this isn't a real turbo car, so not sure what you mean none of the parts look aftermarket. Unless you mean all parts used were OEM spec'd.

The slant nose front end has ribs in the fenders which compliment the vents in the rear. I will get some pics with the headlights up later today. It looks pretty sweet.

Let me know if anyone has insight on the power top/convertible issue.

I'm going to:

- Check fuses
- Check the module behind the passenger kick panel
- Hopefully find the manual and start troubleshooting the switches?

He means back then you could walk into the dealership and buy factory conversion parts to have your shop install them. They were pricy as hell and if original Porsche stuff may be worth as much on their own as you paid for the car.

Understood. Very cooool. Said he bought the car from the Toy Store in Florida.

Should be a fun summer car.

There is a thread about the slantnoses in the 930 forum. Has a lot of visual identifiers for telling if the parts are Porsche made.

Maybe instead of removing the turbo badge, you should just add a Promotive turbo kit and make the turbo a reality.

correct thanks for clarifying on my behalf, if the parts were factory purchased and installed at a later time (they look that way from initial glance) they definitely are worth $$$.

Awesome! My 75 Rat Rod has the same fender vents (for rear brake cooling). Mine does not have teh slats int eh vents though. Sort of RSR’ish. I like them, they are different and I am leaving them. Some turbos were ordered with regular headlights and those rear fenders, just FYI.*I say pull the Turbo Badging, and enjoy that sexy ride!

Thanks I might just do that! Needs an oil change and plugs most likely. Some smoking from passenger side might be the valve cover gasket gotta inspect

She's a looker! I love the '80s!

I say convert to a manual top. Hit me up if you are interested in the process.

Definitely interested! Sending you a PM. I got the top to work but only the driver side kinda works intermittently.
