090 WUR evaluation?

Is my WUR shot? I get a resistence reading of 10 both in ambient warm temperature as well as when heated up by the plug and heat soaked Engine. Then I take it out and put in the freezer and get a reading of 26. Long story short my car runs awful until fully up to temp. Can anyone shed some fresh light on this; I have done quite a bit of research and can’t quite find the answer?

Bill

The 099 has a dual stage resistance which are the 10 and 26 ohms you measured. What's in contention is the temperature does the switchover occurs.

However, it doesn't mean the WUR is not out of spec wrt fuel pressure, in particular the CCP in your case. I would monitor the fuel pressures. The resistive heating element affects how long the fuel pressure take to go from CCP to WCP via the heating of the bimetallic strip. If you find the CCP is out of spec, making it adjustable is an option.

PMax,

Please double check the resistance values (Ohms) of the bimetallic heater for WUR-090. They are not 10 & 26 Ohms respectively as you stated. They are actually 16 & 26 Ohms.

All the resistance is telling you is that the heating element has continuity and is working as it should. What you need to do is to set the mixture so it runs well while it's warming up.

Cheers,

Joe

Bill,

Your cold idle problem will not go away as long as you have this WUR. When you get a chance search for the posts of “Mike in FL” and “JSZ” regarding their experiences with their WUR-090. Setting your mixture or fuel pressure on spec will do nothing to correct the problem you are having because you simply have an out-spec WUR.
