Would Fuch 16" SC wheels fit 1974, 911?

Hello

I’m looking in to a Set of 4 Fuch’s 16" SC wheels for my 911 Targa year 1974… The wheels come with 16x7 rear and 16x6 front, Also comes with 225/50-16 rear and 205/55-16 front. Would it feet 911's year 1974 without problems?

Thanks for your advise!!

Ricardo

Denis is right, but be prepared to roll the rear fender lips, and possibly a front one or two

Thanks for reply!!

Marc, When you say be prepared, it is just as a precaution … (and it is just a possibility to need to have the rear and front fender lips rolled)…. or because it is a most to roll the fender lips? I’m not to experience with wheels offsets and clearance… But, is there a way to know if a fender lip rolling is definitely need before putting on the wheels?

Thanks

Ricardo

There is always a lot of talk about rolling the lip on 911s and 914s. On both, the fender curves inward right above the wheel arch. As often as not, when the tire misses the fender lip, it hits the fender right above, burning the paint. The shape of the shoulder of the tire has some bearing on the issue too. Real square tires of the same aspect ratio will hit before a more rounded tire. Seems like most tires are pretty square these days.

If you buy the wheels and tires, put them on and lower the car slowly and drive it a few feet to settle the suspension and check clearance. Don't forget ride height, as a real low car will surely rub before a higher one will. Last tip: a little negative camber will swing the shoulder of the tire inward away from the trouble spot. On my 911, when I had it, the body was slightly different from the left rear to right rear. One tire was closer. I hear this is common. The car had never been wrecked.

my Ft 16X6, 205/55, SO-3 at 25 1/4 have plenty of room.. I think 16X9 rear w/SC arch would be cool

Ricardo:

As Milt says, alot depends on the car, since they all vary somewhat, but I would be willing to bet beers on rolling the rear lips.

Ron makes a good point, you are looking at 6" wheels for the front with 205/55s that should be ok, I was thinking about 7s.

Hope that helps.

The 225s will be a tight fit. Rolled fenders will probably help and stiff t-bars to compensate for drive ways and outside rubbing.

225's on a 7 inch rim in the back of a narrow car? Nope. More often than not they will rub and burn the paint about an inch or two above the fender lip in the rear, no amount of rolling will help this.

The fronts are a bolt on, but be very careful in the rear. As mentioned, stiff T-bars, lots of negative camber and testing before taking the car on the road and it might work.

7's in the back seem to work well with a 205/55.

The only time I have seen 7x16s with 225/50s on the rear of a non-flared '74-'77 car (and not rub) was a car I saw once that was set at what I could only describe as "rally" height. :>) It wasn't pretty, but the tires didn't appear to be rubbing.

As a general rule, they will not fit.

Just got the car a couple of weeks ago so I'm not sure of the rim width, but the tires on the rear are 225/50/16. Its far from rally hidth.
