Hi there everyone. Pelican has a longtime friend/customer who just recently aquired an old 908 chassis without the engine (we're not sure what happened to it). As a result, he is looking for a replacement 908 motor in as pristine condition as possible. This customer is one of those lucky dot-com people who sold out at the right time, and thus has plenty of $$$ to spend on this project. He has asked me to put the word out that he is looking for one of these engines. I know that Jerry Woods has been making brand new 908 replacement cases, but he doesn't want to go with this option. His ideal solution would be to find an old Porsche crate motor, but the chances of that are nearly nill.
Please let me know if you are aware of anyone who can supply an engine like this. Our friend tells us that there will be a finder's fee (he was unspecific about the details), for someone who can help... Thanks! -Wayne

Wayne,
Try the factory. A several years ago when Phil Daigrapont [Shreveport, Louisana] was restoring and setting up his Martini 908 for vintage racing he was worried about spares. He called Porsche [Germany] and asked what they had. They had plenty. He flew to Germany and bought $300,000.00 worth of spares, including a long block. On the other hand, have your friend get in touch with the right people, chassis number in hand. There's a good chance somone might know where the engine is. I've seen five different Ferrari engines re-united with thier chassis's. |

Yup, I know Phil - nice guy, nice car, although I didn't know he had a bunch of spares on hand. Good thought on the factory...

Try Mark Waring of World Wide Classics. He has a 906 motor for sale and may well be able to locate a 908 motor

Wayne,
You may want to try Denny Aker's in Seattle. If there was one around here, he would know about it. Aker's Foreign Auto Repair. (206)329-5253. best of luck to you. Kyle. |

No 908 motors available, either at Zuffenhausen or Weissach.
Once he gets one, they will be more than happy to service it for him. AFJuvat
