Any Idea What Part is This?
Found this little part stuck to the magnet of the oil drain plug when I was changing the oil. Any idea what it is and where it dropped from? Car been running fine.

Hate to say it, but it looks to be one of your timing chain master link retaining clips. You need to pull your chain covers and inspect ASAP. Don't run the motor or you risk the chain separating and catastrophic head damage.

I believe it is call an E-clip.

Jesus clip out here in the west. I second the master link clip.

Man that’s not good. Gotta open this thing up now and got a race on Thursday. Thanks for the help guys

Depending on which direction they put the link in you may be able to replace it by just pulling the timing chain cover.

Look at it this way, you dodged a bullet. Even if you can't fix it in time to make the race, you saved yourself a ton of money.

Did a inny minny miney mo and started with the left side. Took the left cover off, both clips were in place. No luck. Took off the right cover and here’s the missing clip. I don’t want to use the old clip so overnighted one along with the gaskets, hopefully it gets here on time for the race.
Two thumbs up for the magnet drain plugs. If that hadn’t caught it, would have never known until potentially catastrophic failure. Frequent oil changes help too. Not Much time between changes for things to go too wronghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558913778.jpg |
Congrats on catching it before it caused damage!
