1983 SC 911 Front Suspention Issue
As stated above , i have an 1983 SC 911 . The issue I am experiencing is as follows:
When I grab the passenger side tire while the car is on the ground and move it in toward the car and away from the car in a shaking motion I can feel a looseness that is not present on the drivers side. I need to know how to determine what is going on with this and once I isolate the problem how difficult would it be to fix myself. |

Hopefully just a wheel bearing adjustment.
Remove wheel. Pry wheel bearing cover cap off (wiggle with channel lock pliers). Loosen allen wrench jam screw (if it's not loose already). Tighten bearing adjuster nut until there is no slack, then back off just a tad until the wheel turns freely but doesn't wiggle/wobble. Tighten allen wrench jam screw to lock (pinch) the adjuster nut. Install bearing cover & wheel. Viola! If you spin the wheel & it sounds like sand in the hub, you'll have to dig a little deeper, so try the cheap fix first. The Bentley Shop Manuel (from our host) out lines this procedure, including wheel bearing service up to, and including, replacing the bearings if they are boogered up. Good luck! |
