No Spark and I知 getting married (click bait)

I wonder if you guys could help me,
I知 having problems getting any spark! My porsche is a 1975 911s 2.7l LHD (USA) car,
I recently did a Telegraph Test to see if the CDI is producing power to make a spark.

I took the high tension lead off the Coil and put the normal spark plug on it with a spark plug on the end and then ground the threaded part of the plug. Then I opened the distributor, removed the rotor, put the ignition on, and manually opened and closed the points. But each time i did it, I never got a spark from the plug. But I致e been told normally I would get spark at this point.
Also just to give you a run down..
There is 12v supply going to the cdi unit and it痴 making a whistling sound.
However the wire going to the coil from the CDI wasn稚 getting any voltage in this test.
I also have earthed the cdi unit where it is meant to be earthed.
The 3pin CDI was sent to John at JDS Porsche and tested on the CDI test rig and he said it works fine.
I致e also checked all the way from the cdi plug to the coil in the wire for any breaks. Showing complete continuity.

As you can guess I知 tiring my hair out! so any help would be much appreciated.
ps. I知 getting married in 4 weeks and the miss wants the car at the wedding.. just for added pressure.
