The PS door handle pull rod broke. I ordered another one, an original Porsche part, from PP but the rod is too long even when adjusted all the way in. It does work but the handle doesn't sit flush when not pulled.
I haven't tried any used parts suppliers yet; guess that's next. Any other ideas? Thanks!

is the targa a different part number than the coupes? I know some items in the doors are different.

The PP catalog only has the one option, part # 993-531-091-02-M100. Price is about $50
![]() Interestingly the part # is a 993-xxx. There was 1 customer review stating the same thing I experienced. It would seem this part doesn't fit older 911's.

Thanks for the link but I did already find that thread. After the PS rod broke I went ahead and replaced all the bowden cables and plastic bushings as it looked like they were original/old.
All the other parts work a-ok except that rod. I was able to reuse the DS rod. With the new parts and slight adjustments the door pops open almost without effort - sweet.

I to looks to me that the correct part for an 84 (Targa, Coupe, Cab are all the same) is 911 531 091 00. Pelican shows this as a special order part. for 85 on the last to digits changed to 01 which supersedes to 993 531 091 02.
Looks like you need the earlier 00 part, or you need to swap to the later style parts for Bowden cable and relay lever. 84 to 85 SN 21226 911 531 091 00 Pull Rod 911 531 509 00 (L) Bowden Cable 911 531 510 00 (R) Bowden Cable 911 531 083 00 (L, R) Relay Lever 85 SN 21226+ 911 531 091 01 superseded to 993 531 091 02 Pull Rod 911 531 509 01 (L, R) Bowden Cable 993 531 083 00 (L) Relay Lever 993 531 084 00 (R) Relay Lever |

Hey 76FJ55,
Many thanks for that info! Now I can get the correct part. $9.50 sounds way more reasonable as well ![]()

Cut the threaded end a bit. Assuming the two ends touch each other before you run out of thread.
