Any LA wreckers that have 80s parts?

Other than LA Dismantlers, are there any yards that have mid 80s parts cars, in SoCal?
Need a wire loom for an 86. From ignition switch to cowl and light switch. Separate loom from the other stuff under there. THX.

Einmalig in HB always seemed to have a good quantity of aircooled stuff but I haven't been there in 3 years. (They seem to want top dollar too, but I am cheap...)

With little modification VW bug CHT sensor fits (has the same M10x1 thread but single wire and needs ground wire + male JPT 2 pin connector to be soldered). There are several ones but there is correct one with correct 2kOhm curve.

I posted a similar observation a few weeks back - these sensors are made from un-obtainium.
More so, than just a manufacturing shortage by Porsche and Bosch.
Makes one think there is a patent infringement tangle or maybe something in the ceramics process has gone awry with raw materials ? Tariff FUBAR ?

Just ordered a used A/C fan switch from Einmalig and expect it today/tomorrow. Mike thought he had one, checked and called me back in 10 minutes.
Tried our host but they, like everybody else, offer the superceding part which is completely different and comes with no wiring diagram, necessary for me as terminal locations are different and I am an electrical idiot.
I will definitely use them again.

All Bosch "fluid" temp sensors have the exact same curve - this is down to the semi-conductor technology, and isn't configurable/doesn't vary.

There's a generic Bosch sensor with a JT connector 2 pin on the device itself. Take care of the clearance issue, little flying lead with JT plug/socket each end to mate to the factory harness and you'd be good.

There are other temperature sensors, which don't use the same technology; e.g. Magneti Marrelli make one, used on Fiats and Ducati.

The MM temperature curve is different to the Bosch device, but it probably doesn't matter - 0-50C is probably close enough; my tune is getting rid of warmup compensation pretty quick by the time the CHT reaches 50C; motor just doesn't need it.

There's something like a 10-15C discrepancy between the two technologies by 100C or so - but I really think the Motronic is past caring about enrichment at that point.

So all you would need to worry about is arrangements for the electrical connector, and the mechanical clearance (most "short-reach" fluid temp sensors have 17mm of brass extending beyond the thread, unlike the 3.2 temp sensor which ends right there). Maybe a plug that screws into the cylinder head and has room for that extra length?

Most of the generic sensors will run you $20 or so new thanks to the volume they're produced in - so it's probably worth figuring out how to adapt one...

Or buy a 964 one for $100 and re-pin it to the appropriate connector.
