Starting my car for the 1st time

I’m going to be starting my car for the first time in about 7 years this weekend .

It’s a 93 964 . Around 80k miles .

It had a filter and oil change around 60 miles before it was stood , using Mobil 1 .

Since I got it back I installed a new oil cooler , plus an additional front cooler and hoses .
These are still “dry” .

My plan is to pull the fuel pump power and remove the top plugs and crank it to get oil pressure , then reinstall to fire it for the first time and drive forwards 10 feet out of the garage .

Once outside I will fill the oil coolers and new piping , before starting again to get upto temp and check for leaks , fan operation etc. before I look to bolt body work back on .

I planned on dropping a little mobil1 into the cylinders while the plugs are out , but have been thinking this would only end up at the bottom of the cylinders so I’m wondering if there is a product in an earosol that I could use a straw to get a slight covering all the way around where the rings will go , such as wd40 ?

Any thoughts on this ?
Do I really need to pull the plugs ? Or do I not need to do anything while the plugs are out ?
Engine has allready turned slightly .

Anything else I should do ?
Thanks for any suggestions .

How old is the gasoline? I’d make sure that it has fresh fuel, and that there aren’t any leaks.

Pulling the fuel pump relay is the way to do it. I’d leave the plugs in. Let it crank until it has oil pressure on the gauge. 30 seconds at a time with a 2 minute no crank time to let the starter cool. But it shouldn’t take very long to build up oil pressure.

The tank was ran dry taking it to the paint shop all them years ago .
I’ve added a “full tank” cleaner and about 4-5 gallons .

I only want it starting so it’s easier to use the Uhaul trailer , will go through it all when t returns home from upholstery .

I got oil pressure

Gonna leave it 10 mins and go again efore I get fuel pump powered up .

I’m expecting to install new filters , pump , level reader , and injectors when it gets back .

Have been taking with Len about my design for a flushing rig .
Filters , pump , Dp gauges and fill and drain ports .
Will make something up at work

I was going to make the same for an oil flush , but both Len and internet research said not really needed .

It's up to you, but I would clean the fuel system first.

Good luck and have fun ! Time for the true experts to chime in.

Yeah I Hear you and that was allways the plan , but I’m out of time .
I’ll have to do it when it gets back .
Hopefully I can drive it 10 feet to outside , then later another 20 to get it on a trailer .

As far as an aerosol for the cylinders, they sell “fogging” oil, but I have never used it on a Porsche.

Internet research was 50-50 on pulling plugs .
In the end I went with dan’s advice and just cranked it

There was a breakdown in communications when it got brought from the airport to my house .
The engine has allready been turned ..

Pushing it off the trailer in gear

The 2 big guys doing the pushing were not impressed with me

Latest update :

It’s getting hot in the garage !!!

Just removed downstream side of fuel filter , now waiting for gas to evaporate whilst I have a beer and smoke break .

Went to pep-boys (and chicken place ) to buy some spade connectors as I cannot find any in the garage .
Made a dme relay bypass .
Will spend the next few hours checking out the fuel system .

Double, double, oil and trouble;
Spark fire burn and carbs do bubble.

Cool it with air only,
Then the charm is oily good

One more check to do tomorrow , but it looks like a need a new fuel pump .

Looks like it will have to be man-handled onto the trailer ... how undignified !!

Well , it’s on the trailer !!!

I got back the 7 miles from u-haul in one piece but wasn’t confident I could manouver it in the road , so I parked it and grabbed a beer while I sent a text and cleared the runway .
3 beers later I’m ready to go and sat in the garage waiting for assistance.
Sent another text saying I’d be drinking by the pool .
A few beers and cannon-balls later I received a rather garbled text , so I replied “hold my beer and watch this “ ...

After a couple of minutes , my older neighbor came out to see what I was doing on his drive and said “I’m buzzed , but I can do it !! ‘

And He got it on the drive for me .

AMERICA !!!
F^2K YEAH !!!

About 120 miles tomm0row, and the thing is done

Hers a speeded up video .
It’s even more painful in real-time
