COA Questions

So, I imported what I thought was a 2.2 911t when I moved back from the states. Its been 3 years and finally getting around to recommissioning and registering..

My COA says it is a 1970 911t Coupe. Does this mean it is a 2.0 or a 2.2?

I do not know how to decode my engine number 6107187?

Also, it says it had chrome whole disk wheels 5.5j x 15 but now it has 14" fuchs??? What are "Whole disk wheels"?

The engine # is a 1970 model. See attached. What size that is, I have no clue.

Hope this helps.

1970 and 1971 were 2.2, 2.0 went through 1969.

1) Whole disk wheels = Steel wheels. Some had a chromed finish as well.
2) 1970 911t had a 2.2l motor. All 911's had a 2.2l motor starting in 1970.

The 1970 914/6 used the "old" T motor -2.0l displacement. A 911 with the same engine in the same year? heresy!

Awesome thanks. Interesting that a one owner car has a set of 14" such on it when they purchased it with steel wheels. I guess I could sell the fuch's and put steels back on!

There are far more early 911s with Fuchs now than were ever built that way by the factory.

Also an easy swap by a dealer. Remember, a 911T was a price leader of sorts, so they could be find relatively light on options - 4 spd, steel wheels. A base 911T as only a couple hundred dollars more than a 914/6.

My dad's 914/6 came with steelies.. He had the dealer swap on 14" Fuchs (recall at the time, 14" was quite common size, 15" was a almost a premium size).

They were likely 185/14. Back then, the default was an 80 series profile. You might find a 185/70-14 which is only slightly smaller sidewall.

I run 195/60 14 as there are one or two performance tires still available in that size. After that, at least in the US, you get less impressive touring/all season tires for your selection.

See the last post here is an old thread about the same topic:

Check the classic Pirelli CN36 sizes - try Stoddard.

Michelin still makes some.. or at least Coker tire makes them using old Michelin molds.
A 205/70-14 would certainly fill up the fender wells better than most others.
