I know what you mean...I took mine out this weekend for a 2 hour trip to the "city" tons of oohs/awes, especially in my small town of 3000... but what most people here don't realize it that it cost less than their suburban...

:)

Kirby wasn't clear the last couple of times I was on it. You can catch air on some of those dips on Georgetown Pike. A few blind driveways to watch out for too. That road (Springvale?) that starts in Tysons and runs by L'Auberge Chez Francois into Georgetown Pike is pretty cool too.
I find it ironic that a lot of the envious looks and compliments I get are from people driving vehicles that cost 2-3x what I paid for my 911. They have no idea what a bargain (IMO) these seasoned 911s are.

Jack,

Do you need Pilots licene for that wing?

The cops will neve notice it but Air traffic will.......

Looks damn good though.

kstylianos & rs911t,

The best time is past midnight, preferably on a weekday; but even then it's not unusual to run into other sports car owners with the same idea. I've seen many Porsches, Vipers, Ferraris, and even a Diablo around that time.

If you go up Old Dominion to Georgetown Pike, make a left, and then an immediate right, there is a windy, hilly road that leads to a park. Is that Swinks Mill?

No. Swink's Mill is on the other end. Get on Old Dominion going the
other way. The first light is Spring Hill. The second Swinks. Turn left and it intersects the Pike.

Charlie,
That's River Bend.

Greg,

I did not know that. Another fun road for the back pocket.

I live in Arlington and my favorite route is to take Kirby-->123--->G. Town Pike-->Old Dominion-->back to Glebe

It's a short, but amusing, stretch just before the Pike.

Heh heh... I'm not local but my companies office is in Rockville... I'm particularly fond of the Exit off I-270 to the Sam Eig (I think)... THe one that heads over towards washintonian center there...

I got a bit of a legend around myself with some of my colleagues for coaxing a Caddy rental car into a 4 wheel drift on that exit ramp... Flame away, the road was empty, etc...

Based on the foregoing, the inter-car radio communication on this upcoming fun run should be pretty interesting.

You're right, Chris. Great, long sweeper. The on-ramp is a good time, too. Just be warned that trooper like to hang out in the adjacent median nailing folks who enjoy their driving.

In traffic, driving a Targa really gets noticed. I had a guy in a pickup truck pull up next to me, look down, ask me several questions about my P-car, tell me I was killing him (he was very green with envy) and finally move on. I'm sure he went home that night and lobbied for a P-car for himself ;)

cstreit 03-25-2003 02:42 PM

Only did it once in a moment of bravado... Normally when I'm there it's with a hangover from seeing my mates in town... Not condusive to aggressive driving anyway... Thanks for the tip though. ;)
