Engine/Trans Mounts: Genuine Cabrio/Clubsport vs. WEVO w/ Black Pillows
Hey Pelicans:
I’m at a bit of a crossroads on my engine / transmission mounts and was hoping to get some input to help push me in the “right” direction. Disclaimer: I have searched and searched but have not landed on anything I would call definitive for my situation. The car: 1984 Carrera Targa. The condition: Higher miles; new tires; new Bilstein greens and various bushings. The use: Daily driver; no track time. The location: Los Angeles on streets that are anything but smooth. And now, the questions: 1. Will WEVO mounts with black pillows be too stiff/harsh (and/or be an unnecessarily aggressive upgrade) for me? 2. Relatedly, are the Cabriolet/Clubsport mounts a big enough (read: noticeable) upgrade over standard stocks? What I’m hoping to achieve is a car that rides well (firm) without alarming the wife and/or shaking like crazy over uneven road surfaces (of which we have many). Thanks in advance! |

Bumping this up in hopes of getting some input from the Pelican community before placing an order.
At the moment, I'm leaning towards the WEVO mounts but am still concerned about ride quality. |

They are pretty similar when you're running the black pillows. I have them on my 87 Hot Rod and I usually buy the club sport mounts for my builds. I like the factory look better than the Wevo. Either one is better than stock ones. Especially, if they're old.

I installed the factory sport mounts 8 years ago. Happy with the results, no strange noises or harshness at all.

I also have an '84 Targa with higher miles. Having used all three types (original, club sport, and now Wevos with black and blue pillows) i would recommend the club sports on a street car.
I'm a big wevo fan, and the mounts look super cool, but they transmit a bit more noise in my experience. And I don't notice any improvement in shifting accuracy or whatever people claim about them. Maybe one of these days when I have the engine out I will try reversing the blue and black pillows and see if that helps. I don't remember at the moment which way I installed them. I really only bought them because the club sport mounts were beginning to get rusty and gross looking and I ran across a good deal on some Wevos in the classifieds.
