spring in the bay area

the weather heats up and the car will be out this weekend, but just where remains to be seen. there is an AX at candlestick this weekend which is fine and i may attend but a mountain run is more fun. a great deal more seat time, you get out of 2nd gear and if you can find others to go (see targa dude) its a blast. lets see whos doing what-

whos in for the stick (PCA GGR)?

whos in for mines to del puerto, up 5 to vasco?

whos in for hwy 25 south of hollister, to 198 (more twists than a dead show)?

i will be attending the most frequented event. let me know whos in, besides targa dude, you are in right jorge?

As always, I'll be autocrossing at Candlestick on Saturday. Sunday, time for some brake maintenance to get the car ready for Buttonwillow.

Toby, I promise that ONE of these weekends I'll make the long haul down South from Marin to drive Mines with you and Targa Dude!

Hi Fogcity, Welcome to Silicone Valley.. what part of the Bay area do you live in? Some of us Bay Area 911 guy's just like to Drive some of the best roads around, Some guys Like to Auto Cross, some Guys enjoy DE events, Some guys are heavily envolved in the PCA But it seems like most of Bay Area Pelican 911 owners like to sit and stare at thier cars in the garage. don't ask me why they just do..

Jorge (Targa Dude)

PS, Toby you know Saturdays are always better on Bay Area back roads.. Sundays are ok as long as you get an early start.

Targa dude - I'm in SF proper. What's DE? Who's a good mechanic? Are there any "must attend" events coming up?
Thanks.

Fog,

DE - Drivers Education

Checkout the Golden Gate Region Porsche Club's website for upcoming events. There is an Autocross at Candlestick this weekend:

Hey fogcity,

If you're going to get your tranny rebuilt, you've got to be pretty picky about who you take it to. Luckily, there are a lot of GREAT options in the Bay Area.

S-Car-Go is San Rafael is who I use for all my heavy-duty and performance work. I use Jim Capps at Cars Dawydiak (corner of Franklin and Bush in SF) for all my regular maintenance. He's awesome.

If you want to venture out of the city a little further, and it might be worth it for something like tranny work, Kahler's in the East Bay is who I would have rebuild my tranny.

If you want to autocross your 911, you should DEFINITELY come out to Candlestick on Saturday (3Com, whatever) to run with the Golden Gate Region of the PCA. Lots of runs and lots of great people. There will probably be about 100 or more Porsches there on Saturday.

Find me if you do come there - I have a white '86 Carrera cabriolet - #806 or 908, depending if my wife or I are in the car

jorge, looks like sunday, my pops will be along in the z06, we are thinking 25 south of hollister, then to 198. its about 200 miles round trip from san jo. will that work for you? meet in san jaun batista at around 10. will probally have moms and my g-friend along. mom is really hard to keep up with in the vette, shes faster than most (shes been to multiple driving schools through her employers "team building" deals). do you have one of those motorolla walkie talkies? let me know if you will get a day pass sunday if not maybe bring the wife along? i plan on being hung over saturday
