915 Rebuild

1986 915. Posted a while back about problems getting into second. It magically healed itself.... for a few months... then it started throwing the shifter out of second again... then it magically healed itself.... then it started again.... so I finally tore the motor and transmission out.

Got first gear disassembled. The directions area bit fuzzy. What are the typical wear components? Following along in the Bently manual and the 101 projects, I would be lead to believe that the synchro hubs, synchro rings and slider (shift sleeve in the PET) are the typical wear components; but not the brake bands? Not having new components on hand to compare to makes it a little tough. Also, does the guide sleeve 915-302-401-02 receive wear? I am really anxious to not have to rebuild the transmission again anytime too soon!

Thank you all!

Andrew
