Front Condensor Blower

Bought a Kuehl replacement motor assembly for my '80. Old one is wimpy and has a dead spot. Pulled assembly to install and discovered that the housing is riveted together. WHAT???
Called Griff for suggestions and he had never heard of or seen a riveted housing
So, rather than drill a bunch of rivets, I ordered a used assembly from Einmalig which has the clip system. (Brian told me that Parts Heaven is done)
Anybody here have a riveted housing, or seen one. Just curious.

I sure have not, but Griff is a AC pro with a business of selling parts and tech support. If he has not heard of it, it is rare.

In most every project I get into at some point I hear a seasoned pro say "Well, I have never seen THAT before!" On one project at my old house I heard two different pros say it.

So you are the lucky one to get the unicorn part. I would guess, it was some aftermarket replacement and not a OEM Bher unit. Just a guess. Does that blower housing have any marking on it?

Glen;
Has a Behr sticker on it and seems to be original. Don't think the guy who sold me the car was the sort to swap in an aftermarket and transfer the sticker. Doubt he has ever had a dirty fingernail and pays people to care for his cars. The black gasket looks and feels original.

Griff seems to feel it is, indeed, a Behr but not one he has seen. Einmalig had not heard of a riveted unit either.

Knowing Porsche and how they sub in parts, it may have been a limited run by Behr or something. Into the parts box once the clip version is installed.

Confused. You referring to the fan that resides on the frunk floor in front of the gas tank which supposedly blows air to the condenser bolted underneath the floor pan?
