Mystery black box
Changing out master cylinder in my 78 SC and found this bakelite box tucked down near the AC ducts. Pretty sure it's not factory, no markings other than a number scratched on the front. 9 white wires go to a harness that disappears into the nether regions.
Alarm system or immobilizer installed by a PO? Anyone recognize it? It's not sealed very well and there's a bit of corrosion on the PCB so I'd prefer to just remove it if it's not doing anything useful but before I do thought I'd ask the collective wisdom first. TIA. ![]()

Mystery box.
Open the white connector, and check for any start-up
issues. Based upon the number of IC's this may involve some type timing circuit. Yes, proceed to the fuse panel connections, and, the other (?) door switches(?), trunk(?) connections. Before you disconnect any of the above, document the wire colors, and the connection points. pm me as needed. Best, Gerry

Meh, I probably wouldn't worry about it. Unless.... I was being tailed by 4 ugly Dudes that were high level drug dealers in a big Ford station wagon.

Look under the driver side dashboard. My guess is those wires pop out under the dashboard and are tied into the ignition circuit. My car had an aftermarket alarm like yours and the wires were spliced into the heavy gauge yellow wire along with a relay.
