But not the one you're thinking of!
I just recently started taking a German Class, and was wondering how in German they say car names like "911", "944", etc. I can think of a few: Neun-Eine-Eine Elfundneunhundert Neun-elf etc.. Anyone know for sure? Thanks! Chuck

I believe slang for 911's is "elfer" and I believe I've seen here or rennlist references to Neum-elf

Most common that I have run into
Neun-elf - 911 Neun-vierundvierzig - 944 Neun-dreizig - 930 Neun-vierundsechzig - 964 Neun-dreiundneunzig - 993 Neun-neunundfunfzig - 959 Have also heard it in the long form... Neunhundertelf etc. AFJuvat

Yeah, what Steve and Mike said.
It inspired me to get "ELFER" as the number plate for my '75 (if I ever get it back on the road). Note, ELFER implies the car is male. I wonder how the Germans would treat it if one car had ELFER and the other ELFIN (the feminine, I think).
