I found a post on facebook of a renown Porsche specialist and he says the following:
"These are ORIGINAL FUCHS. The hub cap is not included which you can order original. Fuchs took years to reproduce them in accordance with the old specs (and even better) after first producing the 17, 18 and 19 inch. They are the producer and PORSCHE only the client at the time. Porsche did not want to participate in reproduction, which is why FUCHS picked it up itself. There will be miscellaneous 15 inch sizes coming." http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1566457348.jpg |
Let's hope they make the 15x7R wheel again! I'd be in for a pair of those

In Germany you get the "new" Fuchs(*) only via the Porsche Classic Dealers (a service about every regular Porsche AD has).
This is kinda anoying, as you cannot deal with Fuchs Germany directly and must pay Porsche price. (* yes, they do look 1:1 identical to those from the 70s/80s) Too costly for me... so as my original 7/8x16 were recently restored and PlastiDip saved them from userash the last years, I cleaned them and stocked them in the cellar and now run Maxilite at a new set price of under EUR 1000,- stripping the PlastiDip… https://up.picr.de/36517094vf.jpeg like new… https://up.picr.de/36517099wj.jpeg https://up.picr.de/36517101uo.jpeg |

At Porsche Parade I chatted with the folks at the Fuchs booth. The 16 inch wheel looks real nice. They had the 17s there as well. Unfortunately for Carrera and SC owners, the offset for the 17s is designed for the 964. To run it on a SC or Carrera will require a fairly wide spacer. Personally I am not a fan of using a spacer. Maybe down the road, they will produce a 17 for the G body. The choice for tires is a lot better in 17s.

I’d buy a genuine new set of 17’s in a heartbeat.

If they sell the 17s in the proper offset for a Carrera, I will order a set. I like my Euromiesters, but they are cast and heavy. |

The Lindsey welded up wheels made from original 16s comes pretty close to ideal, but they have to fudge some things to make it work. In the end, I do agree with you, I wish the 17s looked more like the old 16s, or my OEM 15s. |

Don’t touch the petal design one bit. |

FWIW, I bought two new Fuchs, 8 x 16, a number of years ago from Wheel Enhancement. '02 dated and I got them in '05.

I just bought a set of Fuchfelge in 17 inch and am delighted with them.
Spacers are needed 32mm front and 21mm rear, so I am looking for the lightest possible. H&R DRM look pretty good for the fronts (dual bolt) and not superheavy with their fancy alloy. Elephant looks good for the rear, using longer studs and with the relieving of material, again not too heavy. What changed my mind first of all is at autobahn speeds (car is returning to Europe when I am finished here in Colorado) I want new wheels that are as good as I can get. Second, if I looked at some of the other wheels like the cup replicas on my old 911, they had a big honking part of the casting to give the appearance, so that chunk of cast aluminium isn't much lighter than a spacer. Lastly...tire weight (and other unsprung weight). I will just try to pick a slightly lighter tire, coupled with those superlight Fuchfelge's (and they are crazy light) I will still be better off than most wheel/tire/brake combo's. Dennis |
