BBI or BBII
A little part of me "died" when I heard that BBI had crashed (I first heard about this about a week or so ago) and I've gotten to see BBII and know many of you love it, including Jack...well which one do you love more
BBI or BBII Mine would be BBI...it actually made me think of giving up the 911SC ![]()

BBI was badass, but BBII is more badass. So on the badass-ometer I would say BBI comes in at 6.7 and BBII comes in around 9.3. Just my humble opinion.

zamir you've hit the nail on the head. But I like the slightly sleeper look on BBI .. oh and I"m a little partial to 73's

Isn't this sort of like asking which one of your kids do you like better?

yep, what Paul said, which is better, the 935 or the 962, the Ferrari 288 GTO, the F40, or the Enzo?
That's like comparing the tastiest apple to the tastiest orange.

I think if I had both I would want to trade the late model torque motor in BB1 for an early highly strung race motor.

I liked BBI better..
just a killer model of the classic 911. but as long as Jack has what he wanted.. he is the only one that has to like what he has.. and since he is heading to the track more & more.. I am sure he is happier with BBII. Eric

Believe it or not, I might vote for BB1.
I wouldn't go back, but both cars were (and are) compromises between street and track use, and BB1, even though she was not as fast around a track as BB2, was a joy to take out for a quick run along the coast or through the canyons. BB2 is more work to get into and out of, and a little louder and more direct when you're driving it. It's king of the track, so far, but my wife won't let it be our ride on a date. (She'll come around, I'm sure.) Like I said, I wouldn't go back. The new car rocks, but it's more of a purpose-built machine than the previous car. It's all business -- and much faster. BB1 had the quality of also being kind of a sleeper. It's harder to come off as a sleeper with Turbo flares and Viper-sized tires. If someone came up to me and said they wanted a great 'classic' 911 for weekend drives and the occasional track day, then BB1 would probably be what I'd point them to. (Of course, then I'd get into BB2 and spin the 13-inch tires. ![]()

I think it belongs to Darwin's theory of evolution. BB1 evolved into BB2 by necessity. Black Beauty has become the Black Beast.

There is no going back.. Just like that 'Pwoof' and BB1 disappeared into the clouds of P-car Heaven and all that was left were memories of pure joy and adrenaline intertwined with crumpled metal and glass. But step aside, with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears BB2 is back and she bigger, badder, and meaner than ever.

While I really admire BB2, for me BB1 was closer to reality for me. BB2 with the cage, coil-overs, moved engine, huge flares and mongo tires - well, it's kinda like lusting over the girl in the magazine versus the girl in your neighborhood. Unobtainum versus Turnyoudownium.

Personally I don't like BB2 as anything but a race car. Just my opinion ok but its no sleeper, it yells at you...LOOK AT ME... which is too close to rice territory for me. On the street it might be 'badass' but..... ![]() This is not to say I don't admire the work (craftmanship) of BB2 but BB1 would be my choice although I don't like black either for street use on a daily basis. Again I'd see it as a w/e street racer.

Now come on guys! You're not being fair. You've only seen BBII in race trim.
Wait until Jack puts the deco trim on it, and swaps the ricer wing for the ducktail before you pass judgement. Remember, it's still not finished.

Dick sums it up well. As I've gotten more into tracking the car, BB2 has become the logical conclusion of what started with BB1. But in some ways, that makes it less the 'people's car' that it once was.
I'll be driving the car 8 hours up to Thunderhill tomorrow for another day of testing. I'll let everyone know how the car feels after that many hours on public roads.

I am the greedy Ba$tard!!! I WANT EM BOTH!!!
Nothing from either of the two cars just eliminates them from being my favorite, and the only car I like more than them is MINE! You can spend days watching and admiring what somebody else has, but sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy what you have...I am a lucky guy. Jack, you are a very lucky man! ![]()

You know, Jack, there's always the idea of buying another narrow '72 roller and dropping another 3.6 in it....move your A/C over to it, slap on some SC flares...and get a trailer for BBII, turning it into a full track car.
C'mon, you know you want to. ![]()
