after almost 3 weeks of grinding, scrapping and adhesive remover i painting the whole inside with silver por 15.

i then used whitecote as the finish color. the silver por 15 applied and covered much better than the whitecote and a future project will be to sand the whitecote completely smooth but for now it is ok.

i also cut lexan for the back and side windows, hopefully it stays in over 100 mph.

the major addition to my original project plan was to remove the sunroof and false ceiling from the car. it was fairly easy and only took me a couple hours to completely cut it out after contemplating how to do it for a couple days.

the project took much longer than i expected and i wonder how long it will take for my hands to stop hurting!

the car was around 2250 lbs dry before this project and now i should have fallen into the high 2100 lbs range! i think the next step is removing heat. do i really need heat in socal?

the end is near, i hope to have it back on the road for a test drive this weekend!

how many quarts of por15 did it take to complete the interior? did you use their primer and metal etch?

i used the marine clean and the metal etch. i did not take the car completely to bare metal and the prep process worked very good. although about 70% was all the way to bare metal once i used a wire cup to remove the seam sealer.

for the silver, base coat, i purchased the 6, 4 oz pack and used 5 of them for the whole interior including the roof. this included 2 coats. i used 2 quarts of whitecote in about 4-5 coats to get it to cover. if i were doing it again i would not have used whitecote and/or i would have sprayed the final color. still it is reasonable but i will sand it smooth in the future and respray the interior once i forget how much work it has been.

it is funny, i did not really plan for a red, black and white color scheme but since my new bbs wheels are red and i have some white fiberglass panels on the car and i wanted a lighter color on the inside to help repell heat the red, black and white scheme just sort of happened. although the elephant racing logo that has been on the side of my car could of had a subconcious influence. ultimately, i really like it.

can't wait to get it back on the road and ultimately to the track as the suspension has also been reworked including new tbars, sway bars, and corner balance. should help remove seconds from my lap times at the next poc sts event april 12-13.
