My new Carrera!

After months of searching, I found my car: A fully-loaded 2013 991 Carrera 4S (pics attached). I've only had it for a few days, but I love it. Sport+ mode is awesome, and I'm getting up the nerve to test out the launch control.... The sonorous sound of the flat 6 (which sure beats the sound of my wife's base Macan!) is a real treat.

I'm thinking of powder coating the wheels in matte black. Any opinions?

I'd stick with it for a while, check out other 991's wheels and see if there's another style you prefer -- suspect there's a smaller market for your style with an aftermarket powerdercoat than for original condition

Beautiful car, enjoy!

What does that have to do with how he wants his car to look?

I have an Arctic Silver Cayman.. with Black wheels, it looks nice,so nice in fact that , that another Cayman owner followed me to where I parked one day, He asked to take pictures and check the tire sizes.

I told him he was a bit of a creep for stalking me like that....

Congrats on a beautiful ride.

Regarding black wheels, yesterday I saw a standard Prius with black wheels which pretty much means the fad has run its course.

I clean my black wheels on the '15 911, when I'm done it's time to go around and do the first wheel again. Continue the merry-go-round to exhaustion.

Nice car. First thing I did on my daily driver is to paint the rims black. I say so it.

Absolutely stunning car. I'd leave the wheels like they are. Of course if you have a gold tooth or 3 and hang with the ricers then go ahead with the plasti-dip?

Don’t do it. You lose all the detail of a nice looking rim. They will look like black holes..... just saying because you asked.

Don't powder coat wheels they said.
The high heat will temper the metal and weaken it, they said.
The wheels will crack, they said.
They will fail, potentially catastrophically, they said.

I never believed what they said. I've powder coated dozens of wheels over the decades.

I'm a believer now...

I went out to check tire pressures one morning and found three of the four forged wheels badly cracked (zero signs / evidence of impact damage)...

If you want to change wheel colors, I'd say go with low temp powder coat or paint.

Aesthetically, I'd suggest anthracite grey over black. It allows for a change, but preserves the details.

Another vote for not doing it. It's obviously purely subjective, but I don't like the "black hole" look it gives.

Black rims to me always give the impression of a cheap car whose plastic hub caps have fallen off exposing the black painted steel rims beneath.

Just one man’s opinion which should mean nothing to you; do what makes you happy.

Aways, I would plastidip it first to see if you like the look.

Also, where did you find the car, how much did it cost you and any pics of the rear?

Beautiful as is.

Silver Silver FTW!

Black wheels would make it look CF poser-ish.

Besides, the tires are black. Isn't that enough?

and WTF with the giant clutch pedal?
