cross arm for door window

hallo,

i am trying to replace this arm in the door.
but i found out that the new arm is about 5 cm longer then the old one.
i have difficulties woth the installation.
can somebody give me a hint?

it is a porsche 911T from 1973.
the new part I bought is for an 1973 porsche 911?? the only thing is that the existing and the new ordered one are not the same in dimensions??
Does anyone have experience herewith?
