Carrera engine oil drain plug washers

My car has an aluminum washer drain plug in the crankcase plug and a copper washer in the oil sump. Both are 22x27x1.5mm. Pelican only carries Al washers. What do the experts recommend?

I've used aluminum for both for a while w/o issue -- change my oil out annually, and haven't seen any issue using an aluminum one on oil tank.

They may be, but originally the crankcase washer was Al and the sump was Cu. Thee must be a reason, either electrolysis or torque value.

I've used both over the years, never an issue with either.

You cannot get electrolytic catalyst reaction with a washer immersed in oil. I have used copper against aluminum, and steel for years and nothing has ever gone bad.

HUH?? Common sense says that either will work.

Common sense would inhibit a lengthy anal-retentive technological debate.

If any Common sense is to be used here, then let's hold off until this thread is several pages long.

I like these threads, because inevitably someone will chime in with something useful.

For example, shopping mcmaster carr for these washers! Obvious in retrospect!

It may not make a difference and I am sorry to have ruffled feathers but the PET part numbers are different:

Sump washer - 900 123 011 20. It was always copper in my car when supplied by PAG.

Crankcase washer - 900 123 118 30. Aluminum.

It may not make a difference, but those were the OEM specs.
