17x7 wheels on a narrow body

Hi

Is it possible/advisable to put 17x7 wheels on a 911 -74 narrow body ?

Pictures would be nice.

Thanks

Possible? Not likely. Advisable? Not at all.

Yes, as long as offset is correct.

The wheel/tire envelope needs to fit the available space, for that to happen 3 things must be right. total width, total height and axial placement.

7x15 205/60 x15 certainly fits at all 4 corners of a 911 n/b from '69 -77

total width is nominally 205mm nominally but stretches to more like 213mm on a 7
total height is ~24.7"
axial placement depends on wheel ET which for a Fuchs 7 is 23.3

so say you want a 7x17
use ET23.3+/- there is a little wiggle room here
use a 205/45 x17 tire
total width ~206mm on a 7
total height ~24.3"

This fits w/i the envelope of the 15 and is axially placed in reasonably

Well, the actual wheels I am looking at are specified with offset ET40. They are Fuchs replica.

I bet these wheel configuration have been tested before, but I can not find any on the forum.

ET40 moves the wheel/tire assembly 16.7mm further inboard than is good for a 911 fit, you could move it back out w/ 16.7mm spacers
