Gas tank advice 1971 911?
I have a 1971 we are bringing out of long term storage in LA. Tank was filled with old gas. What is best option- refurbish original gas tank or buy new?

Fortunately for you, your car in non-CIS and if you shop around you will find many non-cis tanks are a great deal through numerous vendors. I would not hesitate to replace your existing tank with a new one given the cost of refurbishing (boil, internal and external coating, etc). By replacing it, you will avoid a major hassle. You will though have to coat the exterior of a new tank and try to duplicate the original coating which probably is a WURTH coating. Go for it.

OTOH, if you restore the original, you'll be sure it will bolt back in with zero adjustments/modifications.
(These cars were hand built.) Removal and restoration is no big deal, and who's to say the replacement tank will be perfect? Bill K
