cold air supply
has anyone investigated how to enhance the fresh air supply for an 83 sc engine so it is drawing colder air from outside the engine bay versus drawing in warm air which is less efficient?

I think this has been discussed here before and some did a test. The results seemed to be (as I remember) that with the engine running, no A/C on there is no appreciable difference between the intake air and outside ambient.

The top of the engine bay IS cold air. That fan is sucking in fresh outside air at a tremendous rate. The air in the engine compartment could only conceivably be heated by contact with a heated surface (like the bottom) as infrared radiation does not heat air.
You already have a cold air intake so there is nothing to be gained by cobbling something together.

That’s also why the engine tin is sealed to prevent the warm air under the engine from being sucked into the fan for cooling.
