Best glue for the rear non-visible sunroof seal?

I took the sunroof out of my '87 to replace the fuzzy seal around the edges, and I used 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive like everyone says to do. It worked well. But when I took roof off I had seen that the rear hidden V-shaped seal was missing. The car had a repaint at some point, and they must have removed this seal because I could see a strip of roughness in the new paint where it had been sprayed over the old glue.

So I ordered a new rear seal, and in the mean time I read in a Pelican forum that the seal is made out of silicon, and that the 3M Super Weatherstrip stuff won't stick. So when the new seal arrived I smeared a bit of the 3M stuff on one end of it, and sure enough, 24 hours later I was able to rub it off with my thumb. The same forum post said to use "silicon glue", so I went and bought a tube of 3M silicon glue, cut it open, and tried a small test patch, and it too rubbed off of the strip with my thumb the next day. (Now I have a brand new opened tube of silicon glue that will no doubt not be any good if I ever need it again.)

So what kind of glue will stick to this weather strip?

I searched, but I kept coming up with the 3M Super Ws.

And another question....
Which way does the v-shaped seal go, and does the big side of the asymmetric V go down or does the small side go down? I found two vague pictures on the web, and one seems to have the point of the V facing aft with the small side down, and the other seems to have the point facing forward.

3M Weatherstrip Adhesive will work like crazy for both the felt seal and the rubber one that goes on the panel. Just make sure that the surface of the panel is really clean. I'm not sure that a small amount that rubs off is representative of the whole seal being glued and having time to dry. Use it...it will work.
As far as orientation goes I've posted a pic below that should help. Basically the thickest edge goes against the raised edge of the panel. This is so that when it closes this section will squish to form a tight seal.

Thanks for the pictures and the feedback.

I did let the 3M Super WS stuff sit for 24 hours before I rubbed on it lightly with my thumb, and it came off like there was wax on the strip. So I'm a bit wary because once that stuff is on the paint it will be difficult to get it off.

In this picture I think I'm holding the strip in the correct orientation based on your info.

Thanks.

Gap goes forward to catch water and run it off to the side channels. Clean with lacquer thinner and I bet it will stick better.
