996tt brakes

They are off a water cooled car, but are going on an air cooled track car. Where does one source caliper rebuild kits. All I see in PET are the dust covers, no luck at my attempts to locate the complete kits. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

Zeckhausen will have what you need

I do feel the need to remind you(or inform you) that the bias from those brakes is awfull, you will want a dual master w/ differential m/c sizes and a balance bar.

They are also insanely heavy and overkill

To Bill Verburg, I figured I would need a tandem and have looked at a number of posts on that subject, and noted the possibility of needing different size MCs. Any solid info on what size MCs are required? Just looking at the calipers, the front pistons appear considerably larger than the rear, so with no more knowledge than I have, I assume the heavy bias is toward the front. Again, thanks for your input and any definitive info is greatly appreciated. Otherwise, it is the old trial and terror method.

It depends on the year and what rotors are used
most commonly available are the early versions
4 piston 35/44 on 350x34mm rotor and 4 piston 28/30 on 330x28mm rotors

then there was a year or so w/ the better 34/34 rear on 330s and eventually the 28/36 rear on 350

later also went to 6 pistons 28/30/38 fronts on 350 and eventually 380x34 front

so it depends on the specifics of what you are planning on using

I am reluctant to pop the pistons out at the moment without knowing whether kits are available, but would guess they are the first version you have mentioned as the 2 rear pistons appear similar in size and a good disparity in the fronts. Came off of an 03 and all 4 rotors are 330. The car I want to put them on will be a track car. The fact that I had them was my reasoning for using them. I have 930 brakes on a 3.0 car, and this car will be a 3.6, so bigger brakes. Bob
