"carrera" script placemnet on engine lid

My wife says I'm obsessed - I guess this post proves it. I just had the deck lid switched to a non whaletail lid on my '88 coupe and now want to be sure I'm placing the "Carrera" script exactly where it should go. I've looked at a variety of cars on BaT but it's difficult to tell from those photos. So wha tis the EXACT distance from say the bottom of the script to the bottom of the grille on say an '87 to '89 3.2 non-whaletail assuming your car has original deck lid paint & factory script placement?

Jim -- this should help -- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/853156-rear-decklid-badge-placement-please-get-right.html that said, I chose to go "badge delete" with my '86 targa after its repaint -- like the clean(er) look a lot

Do yourself a major favor. Take the plastic stock Carrera script to any sign shop or vinyl shop. They can make you a couple of them for cheap. Vinyl stickers look great, and are a total breeze to wax or clean around. Never have wax problems again.

@darrin - thank you so much. It's interesting that of the 27 responses (3 on this post and 24 on the link you provided) only ONE provides the specific info I was looking for & it's even in German making it loo official! Every other response is an opinion or way off topic....WHY? Again Darrin, THANKS!

The great thing about life is it's YOUR car and you get to decide.

that's nice but what does this have to do with my question?

Since you did ask AND you did sign up to a "forum" - I suggest you need to get a better understanding of the word "forum"

Maybe educate yourself - so you dont come off as an ass and demanding..

Just a suggestion..

(i.e. forum = "open discussion")

What I'm trying to say is it's not like you are resetting diamond on Queen Elizabeth's crown.

Dude, this is an open forum. Many of the best threads have a convoluted subject that changes and input for every possible point of view.

If you think every reply should be on topic, we can all just tell you to use the search function, that question has be asked and answered.

Or we would have a ton of threads that have one question, one answer, no discussion. If you want that, start your own forum. This is a free and open forum and you may well see any reply at all. Like this reply.

You do not just get one answer, you get a conversation with fellow gearheads.

IMO it's much more important! I could care less about royals and their un-earned stuff.

Hope this helps,

You will need to convert cm to Inches.

Best,

Gerry

Crazy bastards, they spelled it wrong.

Not really hehe.

AG81 11-08-2019 05:21 PM

I just double checked my rear deck script, it is misspelled and off about 5/32".

I apologize Bill if my 1st response was rude as some others have suggested. It's just that I wanted a specific answer & out of 20+ (on this thread & the link that gave me the answer), there was only two that had actual measurements, so I was a bit frustrated.

jimaushea 11-09-2019 02:45 PM

thanks Gerry!

aways 11-09-2019 03:09 PM

bottom of the Carrera script is 4" below the engine grill indentation

Certainly NOT rude.

I see myself as a bit of an artist. I placed my 911SC script where I thought it should be. And only stopped short of sending Porsche an email on where they went wrong

jimaushea 11-11-2019 09:29 AM

thanks "aways"!
