Rear decklid badge placement - please get it right!!

I am constantly surprised at the number of cars that have poorly placed rear badges. C'mon people your carrera/911SC script badge does not go at the bottom of the engine cover!! It doesn't go in the middle! Get it right it makes your car look stupid. If everyone gets it right we all look better! Sorry for the rant.

begs the question...

What height should the badges be from the bottom of the lid?

I'm guessing it's different for each model.

I am constantly surprised that people are constantly surprised at the number of cars that have poorly placed rear badges. At your earliest possible convenience, please pull your head out of you’re a$$, and explain where the badges should go. Please, refrain from presenting your credentials, I trust you.

I forgive you for the rant because it’s Lent, otherwise I’d be wondering why you’re so angry about other people’s cars. Peace be with you.

Mike Morris

Ok, I apologize. I thought we were talking about the badges people put on the cooling grill. I didn’t realize people were filling the existing holes placed by the factory on the rear deck and drilling their own holes and relocating factory badges. Who knew, besides newms…good eye.

Thank you Geronimo ’74 for your info. Again, I’m sorry for confusing the issue.

Yes, I have a ways to go on my Lenten journey.

Take care,
Mike Morris

I think most plastic Carrera badges are stick on. No drilling required.
They are often in the wrong spot because some people remove the rear wing from the decklid but don't re-allocate the badge. (or they add a wing and forget to place the badge further down)
Some people will just stick it on anywhere they please, of course...
I prefer to do it as Porsche intended. He got it right IMO.

I just took mine off and left it off. I don't care if people know it's a Carrera or not. If someone behind me gets irked that it's not there all they have to do is pass me and the problem is resolved.

What business is it how someone else chooses to have their car look? These are cars people meaning less machines that are for pure enjoyment. How one person wants their is only their business. Get over your anal selves and let it go. This is why the preceived image of a Porsche owner is a flaming *********.

I see it all the time myself. I looked at a car that had a respray within the last 3 years. Paint looked great... The badge was so far off center it was almost funny. I don't mean top to bottom center... I mean way off the centerline. It was ridiculous. It would have been better to take it off and leave it debadged.
Misplaced badge is a sign that the people who did work on the car did not pay attention to detail. If you can not research the placement of a sticker, what else did they f up on the car?? Probably something more serious than a sticker.

I purposely put mine slightly off center to turn those pin screws on the pedantic enthusiasts.

It's comforting to know that there is at least one concerned individual out there to keep us focused on this critical issue.

SC with early turbo tail? same as the Carrera tail, 175mm up from bottom ledge, I suppose.

SC with later turbo tail (tea tray).... Not a factory option, so there is no right answer.
(Or maybe there is, remove that thing, it doesn't suit the car... )

My 81 SC with factory Turbo spoiler has the badge at 82mm from the bottom edge of the deck lid. I measured from the edge to the center of the badge which is right at the bottom of the "1" in 911.

Mine is a Euro spec and some did have that spoiler from the factory.
